The Lost Art of Colour Pop: Loewe's Debut Designers for PFW SS26

BY MAISIE ADAMS OCT 14, 2025

Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez had big shoes to fill following Johnathan Anderson’s departure from Loewe, but the boys debut at Paris Fashion Week gave a new meaning to high-tech fashion. As the go-to designer for the It-girls of New York for the past two decades, the Proenza Schouler founders brought a coastal approach to the iconic Spanish leather house whilst still honouring it's history.

The runway lit up with a vibrant colour palette of bright blues, summer yellows and vivid reds. It seems no idea went unused, their collection featured preppy shirts made from leather rather than cotton, knitwear given a scrunched look using metal threads, and coats and mini dresses made from 3-D printed fabrics. The New York pair explained the two elements fundamental to Loewe are ‘vibrancy and tactility’, and their show was nothing if not vibrant.

Outside the show, attendees brightened the fall streets of Paris with mustard yellow knits paired with leopard print accessories, showing that colour isn't just for summer. Slouchy bags were a statement piece, reflecting the laid-back, one-handled Amazona bag reimagined in the collection. Teddy-material heels in the form of flowers added an eccentric statement to an already bold and bright look.

One piece that stood out were a pair of leather into suede trousers, a daring yet groundbreaking look paired with a buttoned-up mustard jacket and matching slouchy bag. On and off the runway looks were refined and clean cut, eyes were immediately drawn to the pop of colour added to the look. The Spanish identity of the house remains present in these looks, reframed under new design leadership.

McCollough and Hernandez layer not only their ideas but their looks too. Bright colours layered upon neutrals formed a coastal vibe throughout their flowing, pre-crinkled dresses. As the temperature in Paris begins to cool, dresses were not on the cards. Attendees, instead, layered knitwear atop flowing shirts in neutral winter tones. Yet these baby blues still made a statement that vibrant colours are the way forward this year.

The Proenza Schouler boys debut for Loewe was a masterpiece in inventive materials and colour pop statements. Expect to see streets filled with vibrancy and handheld slouchy bags in the coming summer. And don’t forget to elevate your look through layering pieces, the more daring the better.
